  3. When Bad Things Happen to Good People  Harold Kushner  This book is THE BOOK to read if you or a loved one has had a traumatic experience (e.g., death of a loved one, combat,  rape, traumatic accident).  If it seems like you are stuck in the ‘why’ mode, this book can help you to get your life back on track in a healthy direction.
  4. Divorce Remedy: The Proven Seven-Step Program for Saving Your Marriage  Michele Weiner Davis  This is one of my most recommended relationship books.  Even if your relationship is good, reading this book can make it better.  If your relationship is in trouble, you will find a wealth of practical skills to use immediately.  You can change your relationship now in a very positive way, even if your partner is not presently motivated to change.
  5. Loving Your Child is Not Enough: Positive Discipline That Works  Nancy Samalin  This is one of the best parenting books on the bookshelf.  Even better, it comes in audio version so you can listen to it on your way home from work.  What better way to unwind from work and shift into loving parent mode.

  11. Intuitive Eating: A Revolutionary Program That Works  Evelyn Tribole & Elyse Resch  This is THE BEST BOOK I have read on how to live a healthy life without dieting and obsessing over food and weight.  It is not a diet program and does not focus on counting calories and weighing yourself.  It is a wonderfully fun book (and you thought you would never hear that about a book on healthy eating) with wonderfully inspiring stories and bits of wisdom you will want to post on your refrigerator and in your day planner.  Get out of the diet and deprivation mode and let food just be food.
